Paper Airplanes

Paper Airplanes

I folded up my heart and threw it your way.
I was so happy to see it fly a thousand miles.
I put a stamp that said “With love” on it.
Have you found it?
I know you threw me yours and the stamp on it burned a hole.
But I threw it back.
Did you catch it?
I know mine was rough and you can send it back now.
I thought you sent it my way.
Did turbulence knock it down?
I look up at the sky and hope the rain didn’t wash it out.
Hope the sandpaper didn’t soften under your touch.
Hope your stamp didn’t crush it.
Hope it comes back one day.
I’ll be waiting.
